I posted a quote on my Facebook page from Richard Branson: "If you aren't making a difference in other peoples’ lives then you shouldn’t be in business. It's that simple."
That’s far oftener easier said than done. However, not in the case of my friend Joe Huff and his company LSTN Headphones. I'll confess it's been a while since Joe and I connected, but when we finally did touch base, I was not so much impressed with how much progress he had made in his business, as I was blown away by how much he and partner had changed the world.
My greatest memories growing up are of listening to my father play music. I can’t imagine who I'd be without that gift. It’s part of who I am. I know so many of us walk around plugged into our head phones, listening to music or a podcast, that it’s become an integral part of our lives and how we experience the world. Now imagine for a moment, that you didn't have that. Not just the ability to chill out to great beats, but the inability to hear anyone or anything at all. For me, it's quite simply, unimaginable, and almost impossible to grasp.
Such was the case for Joe, as well. Joe, the social entrepreneur who has a passionate love for music, is now making a fantastic difference by giving the gift of sound to children all over the world through his 'one for one' business model. It's simple. Buy headphones from LSTN and they will give a hearing aid to a child who needs one! So check this out, because not only are these headphones supremely cool, (even Esquire said so) they support an amazing cause:
